The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather advisory predicting widespread thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across various parts of Nigeria on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

According to the daily weather outlook released on Tuesday, northern states including Taraba, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, and Bauchi will experience thunderstorms with light to moderate rain during morning hours, while other areas in the region will see sunny intervals with patches of cloud.

As the day progresses into afternoon and evening, thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall are expected to extend to Adamawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, Bauchi, Sokoto, and Gombe states.

For the central region, NiMet forecasts sunny intervals with patches of cloud in the morning. However, residents should prepare for light to moderate rainfall across most parts of the region later in the day.

Southern states will not be spared from the wet conditions. Areas including Ogun, Edo, Osun, Ondo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Bayelsa, Lagos, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers will begin the day with cloudy skies and light rain, with moderate rainfall expected to persist throughout the afternoon and evening hours.

The meteorological agency has urged the public to remain vigilant, warning of possible flash flooding and localized disruptions due to thunderstorms and sustained rainfall in affected areas.

This forecast comes as Nigeria continues to experience varying weather patterns during the rainy season, with some regions already reporting instances of flooding and weather-related challenges.
