The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled six-hour power outage that will affect several parts of Oyo State on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
According to a statement released on Monday by TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, the power interruption is necessary to carry out maintenance work on one of the company's 60 megavolt-ampere 132/33 kilovolt power transformers at the Ayede Transmission Substation.
"The six-hour maintenance will take place from 10 am to 4 pm. Consequently, Ibadan DisCo will be unable to supply electricity to customers in Eleyele, Lanlate, and Apata on the specified date," Mbah explained.
The spokesperson emphasized that the scheduled maintenance is essential to ensure a safe working environment for TCN's maintenance crew. Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to make alternative power arrangements during the outage period.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause electricity customers supplied from the transformer. We equally appreciate your understanding during the period of power interruption," the statement added.
TCN has assured that power supply will be restored immediately after the completion of the maintenance work, which is expected to enhance the reliability of electricity transmission in the affected areas.
This scheduled maintenance comes as part of TCN's ongoing efforts to improve Nigeria's power infrastructure and ensure stable electricity supply across the country.
