Ogun State Governor and Chairman of the Southern Governors' Forum, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has extended heartfelt condolences to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde following the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

The revered 43rd Olubadan, who ascended the throne as the paramount ruler of Ibadan land, passed away in the early hours of Monday at the age of 90.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun described the late monarch as "a very highly cosmopolitan figure with a deep knowledge of Yoruba culture and customs."

The Ogun State Governor further eulogized Oba Olakulehin as a man of peace whose reign fostered harmony and unity among his subjects, resulting in significant development across Ibadan land.

"Although his death came at a time when we still need his wealth of experience and fatherly wisdom, we, however, take solace in the fact that his life was very eventful and impactful as a harbinger of rich tradition and culture of Ibadan and Yoruba in general," Abiodun stated.

Speaking on behalf of all governors in southern Nigeria, Prince Abiodun extended sympathies to Governor Makinde, the Olubadan-in-Council, and all sons and daughters of Ibadan over the monarch's passing.

"May God rest the soul of Kabiyesi as he transited to join his ancestors in the great beyond," the statement concluded.

The late Olubadan was known for his commitment to preserving Yoruba cultural heritage and promoting peace throughout his reign. His passing marks the end of an era in Ibadan's traditional leadership, leaving behind a legacy of cultural stewardship and community development.
