The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at its retail outlets across Abuja.

BenriNews gathered that NNPCL filling stations in various parts of Abuja, including Zone 6, Kubwa Expressway, and Wuse Zone 4, have slashed their petrol pump price to N910 per litre from the previous N945 on Saturday.

This N35 reduction comes just days after Dangote Refinery decreased its petrol ex-depot price to N840 per litre from N880, following a drop in global crude oil prices.

Wider Impact on Fuel Pricing

The price adjustment is not limited to NNPCL outlets. Members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association have also announced reductions in their petrol prices. In Abuja, independent marketers have reduced prices to between N930 and N940 per litre from the previous range of N945 to N975.

In Lagos State, the price has dropped more significantly to N890 per litre, down from N925, reflecting regional variations in the fuel pricing structure.

This development represents a potential relief for consumers who have been grappling with high fuel costs in recent months, though the impact on transportation costs and general inflation remains to be seen.
