BLUETTI, a global pioneer in clean energy solutions, has intensified its efforts to combat electricity poverty in Africa through its Lighting An African Family (LAAF) program, donating over 500 solar power systems to communities and schools across Kenya and Nigeria in the first half of 2025.

The initiative addresses a critical need, as nearly half of Africa's population—approximately 600 million people—still live without access to electricity, severely impacting education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

Transforming Lives Across Kenya

In Marsabit, Kenya's largest yet most disconnected county, BLUETTI partnered with the New Life Shelter for Nomadic People of Kenya (NLSNPK) to distribute 60 solar kits to newly settled families and schools.

"These solar kits are already making a difference—bringing light, safety, and opportunities, especially for children studying at night and households that previously lived in darkness," NLSNPK shared in appreciation of the impact.

The program extended to Olopirrik Primary School in Nairobi's remote mountainous regions, where BLUETTI delivered 100 solar kits through the Kenya Cultural Centre. Ms. Jennifer Koikai, Director of the KCC, emphasized that the contribution was "more than a donation—it's an investment in our children's future."

At Mutundu Primary School, which serves children with autism alongside their peers, BLUETTI partnered with retail chain China Square to donate 30 solar kits and school supplies. The installation eliminated dependence on noisy generators, creating a more conducive learning environment.

Brightening Nigerian Education

In Nigeria's off-grid Imewuro community, Deyo Tuwo Comprehensive High School received 50 solar kits after BLUETTI learned of their electricity challenges through Ms. Olamide Adesina of Teach for Nigeria.

The impact was immediate and profound. "When the first light came on, the smiles said it all," shared Ms. Adesina, who later overheard a student exclaim, "I can now read without using my mummy's phone torch."

A Growing Mission for Sustainable Energy

Since its launch in 2023, the LAAF program has empowered over 2,500 African families, benefiting more than 60,000 people with sustainable energy solutions. BLUETTI continues to expand its reach with the ambitious goal of providing clean energy access to one million people across the continent.

The company's approach combines direct donations with education and training, ensuring communities can maximize the benefits of their solar systems for everyday life.
