The burial ceremony for prominent Nigerian businessman Alhaji Aminu Dantata has been rescheduled to Tuesday in Medina, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to Nigeria's Minister of Information, Muhammad Idris.

In an official statement, the Minister explained that the postponement was necessitated by the late arrival of Dantata's remains to Medina and the need to comply with Saudi Arabia's regulations regarding the reception of deceased persons from outside the country.

"There are rules and regulations upon which the Saudi Arabian Government receive corpses from outside its country, and we are now aligning with those regulations to complete the arrangement," Idris told BBC Hausa service. He added that all necessary legal requirements would be completed by Tuesday, after which the burial would take place on the same day.

A high-profile delegation has already arrived in Medina for the funeral, including the Governors of Kano and Jigawa States, the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, and former Governor of Jigawa State, Ali Saad Birnin Kudu.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who was a renowned business magnate and philanthropist, will reportedly be laid to rest beside his late wife in Medina.

His passing has drawn condolences from prominent Nigerians, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, who described Dantata's death as a national loss.
