The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has urged newly recruited police officers to maintain high professional standards and embrace people-friendly policing approaches during their training at the Police Training School in Nekede, Owerri.
The Commissioner made this call during a supervisory visit to the training institution on Monday to evaluate the learning progress of the recruits, in line with directives from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu.
Focus on Discipline and Service
During the visit, CP Danjuma addressed 264 recruits from Imo and Abia States after receiving a formal parade from the Sentry Guard. He emphasized the importance of taking their training seriously while maintaining discipline and professionalism.
"Your training must reflect the IGP's vision of a Nigeria Police Force that is service-driven, rule-of-law compliant, professionally sound, and people-friendly," the Commissioner stated.
To enhance the quality of training, CP Danjuma announced that senior police officers in the state with academic backgrounds in Law, Psychology, Criminology, and other relevant fields would be periodically deployed to the school to share their expertise.
Welfare Support and Facility Inspection
The Commissioner toured various facilities including hostels, classrooms, and the kitchen, expressing satisfaction with their cleanliness. He commended ACP Suleiman Shuaibu, the Commandant of the institution, and his staff for maintaining high standards of sanitation and order.
In a gesture of support for the recruits' welfare, CP Danjuma donated 10 bags of rice, a cow, and gallons of cooking oil to supplement their feeding program.
During interactions with both male and female recruits, the trainees expressed appreciation for the smooth training process and the Commissioner's motivational presence.
CSP Shaba Gboyako Adamu, Chief Security Officer to the Governor, who represented the state government at the event, assured the recruits of continued support from the Imo State government throughout their training period.
The visit underscores the police leadership's commitment to developing a new generation of officers equipped with both professional skills and community-oriented values.
