Swedish international striker Viktor Gyökeres has reportedly informed Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas of his desire to leave the Portuguese champions during the current transfer window.
According to renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 27-year-old forward is determined to seek a new challenge and has no intention of continuing with Sporting CP.
"Viktor Gyökeres has already personally informed Sporting president Varandas about his decision to leave, no intention to play for the club anymore," Romano revealed on Tuesday morning.
The transfer specialist added: "Gyökeres wants new chapter, he feels heartbroken after exit pact and not expected to return to training."
Premier League Interest Intensifies
Gyökeres, who joined Sporting from English Championship side Coventry City in 2023, has attracted significant attention from several European giants, with Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly leading the race for his signature.
The Swedish striker's impressive performances in Portugal have made him one of the most sought-after forwards in the current transfer market, with his clinical finishing and physical presence appealing to Premier League clubs looking to bolster their attacking options.
This development comes amid speculation that Gyökeres had previously reached an agreement with Sporting regarding a potential exit strategy, with the striker now apparently feeling that the club is not honoring their arrangement.
As the transfer saga unfolds, the forward is reportedly not expected to return to training with the Portuguese champions, signaling a potential standoff between player and club.
