MRS filling stations, a partner of Dangote Refinery, has announced a significant increase in its premium motor spirit (PMS) pump prices across Nigeria, with rates now ranging between N925 and N955 per litre nationwide.
The petroleum marketer revealed the new price template through its X account on Saturday, marking an increase from the previous range of N825 to N895 per litre.
Regional Price Variations
According to the announcement, motorists will now pay varying rates depending on their location:
Lagos and South-west: N925 per litre
North Central: N935 per litre
North-west: N955 per litre
North-east: N945 per litre
South-east: N955 per litre
Specifically, residents in Lagos will now pay N925 per litre, up from N875, while Abuja motorists face an increase to N945 from the previous N895 per litre.
NNPC Maintains Current Prices
Meanwhile, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has maintained its petrol pump prices at N875 and N895 per litre in Lagos and Abuja respectively, as of Saturday evening.
BenriNews earlier reported that petroleum marketers across the country have been adjusting their petrol prices upward following a surge in global crude oil prices, primarily attributed to the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.
This price adjustment comes amid various discussions about Dangote Refinery's distribution plans, with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) recently expressing support for the refinery's strategies, suggesting they could lead to "cheaper oil" for Nigerians.
The price increase by MRS, a key partner of Dangote Refinery, raises questions about the future direction of fuel prices in Nigeria as global geopolitical tensions continue to impact oil markets.
