Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams has agreed personal terms on a six-year contract with Barcelona, according to reliable transfer sources. The Spanish international is reportedly eager to complete the move to the Catalan giants this summer after a failed transfer attempt last year.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on Thursday that Williams has settled on salary terms with Barcelona, with the contract set to run until June 2031. The financial package is reportedly worth between €7-8 million net per season.
"Nico Williams and Barça have agreed personal terms on 6 year deal! Agreement sealed on player's contract until June 2031 with the salary in the region of €7/8m net per season," Romano wrote on his social media account.
The transfer is not yet complete, however, as Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao must still negotiate and agree on a transfer fee. Romano added that "Barça are currently working on financial terms to get deal done with Athletic."
Williams, who has impressed with his performances for both club and country, would represent a significant addition to Barcelona's attacking options. Previous reports had suggested the winger might even be willing to reduce his salary demands to facilitate the move to Camp Nou.
The potential transfer comes as Barcelona continues its rebuilding process under sporting director Deco and looks to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2025/2026 season.
