Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has advised the club's transfer target Viktor Gyokeres to consider joining Arsenal instead, expressing doubts about the striker's suitability for the Red Devils.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Ferdinand revealed his reservations about the 27-year-old Sporting CP forward, particularly regarding his ability to handle the physical demands of the Premier League.

"I've not seen enough of him to be totally convinced," Ferdinand stated. He further explained that when Gyokeres faced physically imposing opponents in Champions League matches, the striker struggled to make a significant impact.

"I just think for Manchester United, at this moment in time, I would go for experience more than anything," the former defender added, suggesting that the Red Devils should prioritize proven talent over potential.

Sporting CP has reportedly set a minimum asking price of €70 million for Gyokeres, who has a €100 million release clause in his current contract. The substantial valuation underscores the Portuguese club's reluctance to part with their prized asset without significant compensation.

Recent reports have indicated that Gyokeres might be leaning toward Arsenal over Manchester United, aligning with Ferdinand's recommendation. The Gunners are reportedly considering the Swedish international as they look to strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming season.

Arsenal had previously been linked with Napoli's Victor Osimhen but appear to have shifted their focus to Gyokeres as a potentially more attainable target.

The transfer saga continues to develop as both Premier League giants assess their options in the summer transfer window, with Gyokeres' future remaining a subject of intense speculation.
