Rayan Cherki has set his sights on winning football's most prestigious individual honor, the Ballon d'Or, following his recent transfer to Manchester City for an initial fee of £30.6 million.
The 21-year-old French talent, who joined City from Lyon ahead of this year's Club World Cup, expressed his ambition during an interview at City's Cup World Cup base in Florida.
"When you see Rodri, he won the Ballon d'Or here," Cherki said, referring to his new teammate. "It's clear that with Manchester City it's possible and I am here for this. I want to win and I think Manchester City wants to win it all. For me that's better."
Cherki is widely regarded as one of football's most exciting prospects after impressing for Lyon in Ligue 1 last season. His potential was further highlighted earlier this month when he scored and provided an assist on his international debut for France against Spain.
The young midfielder's move to the Premier League champions represents a significant step in his career, with City securing his services ahead of their participation in the Club World Cup.
Cherki's Ballon d'Or aspirations follow in the footsteps of City midfielder Rodri, who recently claimed the prestigious award, demonstrating the club's growing influence in producing world-class talent capable of achieving football's highest individual accolades.
The £30.6 million transfer fee could prove to be a bargain if Cherki fulfills his potential at the Etihad Stadium under Pep Guardiola's guidance.
