Real Madrid has officially announced an agreement to sign Argentine wonderkid Franco Mastantuono from River Plate in a deal worth approximately €61 million including taxes. The 17-year-old talent has committed to a six-year contract that will run from August 14, 2025, to June 30, 2031.

According to the official statement released by the Spanish giants on Friday, Mastantuono has already made history as "the youngest player to play an official match for the Argentina national team in its history."

Delayed Arrival at Santiago Bernabéu

Despite finalizing the transfer, Mastantuono won't be joining Real Madrid immediately. As reported by beIN Sport, the teenager will remain with River Plate through the remainder of the Copa Libertadores campaign and will only move to Madrid after the conclusion of the Club World Cup.

This arrangement appears to have been influenced by River Plate's desire to retain their young star for their continental campaign, highlighting the significance of the player to the Argentine club.

Alexander-Arnold Ready for Action

In contrast to Mastantuono's delayed arrival, Trent Alexander-Arnold is already integrated into the Real Madrid setup. The English defender, whose transfer was completed with a €10 million compensation fee, is currently training with Xabi Alonso's squad at Valdebebas and is expected to be available for the upcoming Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold's immediate availability provides a boost to Real Madrid's defensive options as they prepare for the prestigious international tournament.

This transfer represents another strategic acquisition by Real Madrid as they continue to blend established stars with promising young talent in their quest for domestic and international dominance.
