Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has urged corps members to actively support the state government's agricultural initiatives to ensure food security and development for future generations.

The governor made this appeal on Friday while officially opening the orientation course for the 2025 Batch A Stream II National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to Taraba State. The ceremony took place at the permanent orientation camp in Sibre, marking the commencement of their one-year mandatory national service.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Gebon T. Kataps, Governor Kefas emphasized the critical importance of food security and called on both the corps members and camp officials to collaborate in supporting agricultural programs across the state.

"Taraba State is rapidly becoming a hub for investment, development, and growth," the governor noted, encouraging corps members to identify sectors where they could make meaningful contributions, particularly those planning to remain in the state after their service year.

Call for Discipline and Engagement

The governor advised the corps members to fully immerse themselves in the orientation activities and interact with camp officials, facilitators, and fellow participants. He stressed the importance of maintaining discipline, remaining law-abiding, and avoiding social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, and misuse of social media.

Governor Kefas commended the NYSC management and collaborating agencies for organizing a seamless orientation course and pledged the continued support of the state government toward the success of the scheme.

The orientation camp marks the beginning of the corps members' service year, during which they will be deployed to various communities across Taraba State to contribute to local development initiatives, with a particular focus on agricultural advancement.
