An Air India flight traveling from Phuket, Thailand to New Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on Friday following a bomb threat discovered on board.
According to Thailand's airport authority, the pilot of the Airbus A320 reported the threat to air traffic control after a message indicating a possible bomb was found on the aircraft.
The incident was confirmed in a statement posted on the official Facebook page of Phuket Airports, Thailand. Flight tracking data from FlightRadar24 revealed that the aircraft made a U-turn over the Andaman Sea shortly after departure and circled several times off the coast before safely returning to Phuket airport.
This emergency landing comes just one day after another Air India tragedy, where a separate flight en route to London crashed in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, resulting in at least 265 fatalities, including passengers and individuals on the ground.
Authorities have not yet released information about the nature of the bomb threat or the identity of those responsible. The investigation is ongoing as officials work to determine the credibility of the threat and ensure passenger safety.
This incident highlights the continuing challenges in aviation security and the swift response protocols that airlines must implement when facing potential threats.
