Real Madrid's new signing, Dean Huijsen, has revealed the reason behind his decision to wear the number 24 shirt at the Spanish giants following his recent transfer from Bournemouth.

The 20-year-old Spain international, who was officially presented as a Real Madrid player on Tuesday, explained his choice during the presentation ceremony.

When asked why he opted for the number 24 instead of the iconic number 4 shirt, Huijsen said: "I am not thinking about the no.4 shirt or any number. Wearing any number here is an honor. I chose no.24 because it was available. I am delighted to wear any number here."

The young defender also expressed his excitement about joining the club, adding, "Real Madrid is the club of my life. Thank you and HALA Madrid."

It's worth noting that the number 4 shirt at Real Madrid currently belongs to David Alaba and was previously worn by club legend Sergio Ramos, making it one of the most prestigious numbers in the squad.

Huijsen's signing comes as part of Real Madrid's strategy to invest in young talent, with the 20-year-old center-back expected to strengthen the defensive options for the Spanish giants in the upcoming season.
