The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has issued an urgent warning to Nigerians regarding fraudulent recruitment information circulating on social media platforms.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, CDCFIB Secretary Maj.-Gen. A.M. Jibril (Rtd) confirmed that while President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 30,150 personnel into four paramilitary services and 209 staff for the CDCFIB Secretariat, the official recruitment process has not yet commenced.

"For the avoidance of doubt, any official recruitment exercise by the Board will be duly advertised in credible national newspapers, and the process will be fair, transparent, and completely free of charge," the statement emphasized.

Recruitment Breakdown

The approved positions are distributed as follows:

  • Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS): 10,000
  • Federal Fire Service (FFS): 10,000
  • Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC): 5,000
  • Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS): 5,150
  • CDCFIB Secretariat: 209

Current Status of Recruitment Process

The Board disclosed that it is currently seeking a waiver to allow for a three-week advertisement placement in national dailies, instead of the standard six-week statutory requirement, to expedite the recruitment procedure.

Jibril urged job seekers and the general public to remain vigilant and not fall victim to scammers who are taking advantage of the situation by spreading false information and attempting to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.

The Board also advised the public to report any suspicious individuals or job offers that request payment, reiterating its commitment to transparency, fairness, and due process throughout all recruitment exercises.
