A video of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen discussing his potential transfer options with friends has gone viral on social media, offering rare insight into the Nigerian international's thoughts about his future club destination.
In the leaked footage, Osimhen can be seen eating while engaged in a video call with several friends, including actor and filmmaker Jerry Smart Gift, popularly known as Rakon.
During the conversation, Rakon is heard praising Osimhen, referring to him as "VO9, the greatest of all time" and mentioning that Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand had commended Osimhen's performances across Turkey, Lille, and Italy.
"I said, 'no, Osimhen no dey go Manchester United, they are not in Champions League'," Rakon stated in the video. "At least Chelsea, we dey play Champions League next season. I don't know why they don't wanna pay (you) that money."
Rakon also questioned why former Chelsea stars Mikel Obi and Didier Drogba weren't using their influence to facilitate Osimhen's move to the London club, saying: "I don't know what Mikel Obi and Drogba are doing. Legends that can't bring Osimhen to Chelsea."
Saudi Offer Rejected
The video emerges just days after reports confirmed that Osimhen turned down a lucrative €30 million-per-year offer from Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal. The striker, who enjoyed a productive loan spell at Turkish club Galatasaray last season, was reportedly a priority target for Al-Hilal ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup starting June 14.
Osimhen's rejection of the Saudi offer suggests the 25-year-old striker is prioritizing a move to a top European club, with Champions League football appearing to be a significant factor in his decision-making process.
The Nigerian international has been linked with several Premier League clubs in recent months, with Chelsea and Manchester United frequently mentioned as potential destinations. However, Manchester United's absence from next season's Champions League could prove a decisive factor, as hinted at in the leaked conversation.
Osimhen rose to prominence during Napoli's 2022-23 Serie A title-winning campaign, where he scored 26 league goals. His future has been the subject of intense speculation since then, with his loan move to Galatasaray last season viewed as a temporary arrangement before a permanent transfer this summer.
As the summer transfer window heats up, football fans will be watching closely to see where the Nigerian striker ultimately decides to continue his career.
