Former France international and Chelsea star Marcel Desailly has suggested that Manchester United should dismiss current manager Ruben Amorim and replace him with Paris Saint-Germain's Luis Enrique.
Desailly, who enjoyed successful spells at both Chelsea and AC Milan during his playing career, believes Enrique would be the perfect fit for the struggling Manchester club following his impressive achievements with PSG.
"Luis Enrique would bring a new dynamic and if I was at Manchester United, I'd be asking Luis Enrique to come to my club…Manchester United need Luis Enrique," Desailly told Oddspedia, highlighting the Spaniard's potential impact at Old Trafford.
Enrique's Impressive Trophy Haul
The Spanish tactician has just completed a remarkable season with PSG, securing the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1 title, and Coupe de France. This success adds to his impressive managerial record, which includes a treble with Barcelona previously.
"Anything can happen, he might end up in the Premier League," Desailly added, suggesting that Enrique's future could potentially lie in English football despite his current success in France.
Amorim's Struggles at Old Trafford
The calls for Amorim's replacement come after a disastrous season for Manchester United under the Portuguese manager's guidance. The Red Devils finished in a shocking 15th position in the Premier League, barely avoiding relegation.
Adding to their domestic woes, United also suffered heartbreak in Europe, losing the Europa League final to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
With such poor results, speculation about Amorim's future at the club continues to grow, and Desailly's comments will likely add fuel to the ongoing debate about Manchester United's managerial situation.
