Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has highlighted the performances of Russia striker Nikolay Komlichenko and Nigeria debutant Olakunle Olusegun following the 1-1 draw between both nations in Friday's international friendly match.

The friendly encounter, held at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, saw both teams share the spoils after Nigeria's Tolu Arokodare canceled out an earlier own goal from Semi Ajayi.

Chelle's Assessment of Key Players

Speaking at his post-match interview, Chelle specifically mentioned Russia's number 9, Nikolay Komlichenko, as a standout performer during the encounter.

"The Russian team has a lot of good players. I would especially like to mention number 9 – he stood out," Chelle remarked after the game.

The Malian tactician also had positive words for Olakunle Olusegun, who made his debut appearance for the Super Eagles against Russia.

"He has many advantages: he is very fast, does not lose the ball, has a strong character," Chelle said of Olusegun. "But, like any player, he needs to continue working and developing."

Match Highlights

Russia took the lead in the 27th minute when Nigeria defender Semi Ajayi unfortunately turned the ball into his own net, giving Valery Karpin's side an early advantage.

The Super Eagles fought back in the second half, with substitute Tolu Arokodare finding the equalizer in the 71st minute to ensure the match ended in a draw.

This result comes as part of Nigeria's preparation matches, with the team having recently faced Zimbabwe in another friendly encounter.

Meanwhile, Russia's coach Valery Karpin expressed his belief that his team deserved more from the match against the Super Eagles, suggesting they created enough chances to secure a victory.
