The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna State chapter, has launched a scathing critique of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, describing its two years in office as "Nigeria's worst era despite the humongous accruals from the subsidy removal."

During a press briefing in Kaduna, the state PDP chairman, Edward Percy Masha, declared that his leadership is "poised to continue to hold the APC-led government in Kaduna State to account" and promised to usher in a responsive, responsible, and accountable government.

"Never again shall our party, the PDP win the gubernatorial or any other election for that matter and be shortchanged," Masha asserted. "In 2027, it shall be the people against the APC with their one-party system attempt notwithstanding. We will mobilize the people to defend their mandate at all costs."

Subsidy Removal: 'Opening the Gates of Hell'

Masha specifically targeted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's subsidy removal policy, claiming that the President's declaration that "subsidy is gone" during his inaugural speech on May 29, 2023, was "like a declaration of war on the well-being of Nigerians."

Quoting Bashir Audi, Esq., Masha said Tinubu "unwittingly opened the gates of Hell, and let loose all the trapped Demons on hapless populace" considering the strategic importance of petrol in the life of ordinary Nigerians.

"In Kaduna State, where citizens were already grappling with worsening insecurity, hunger, unemployment and penury, the subsidy removal was like a death sentence," he emphasized.

Failed Promises and Worsening Insecurity

The PDP chairman further alleged that the APC's promise of a 'Renewed Hope' in security, welfare, infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and economic transformation had failed to translate into meaningful outcomes for the nation.

Citing a 2025 Grimm report, Masha highlighted alarming security statistics: "Between July 2023 and June 2024, no fewer than 7,568 people were abducted in 1,130 incidents across the country."

The report identified Zamfara, Kaduna, and Katsina as the states with the highest number of kidnapping incidents and victims. Zamfara reported 132 incidents with 1,639 victims, Kaduna had 113 incidents with 1,113 victims, and Katsina reported 119 incidents with 887 victims.

"The claim of improved security by the governor of Kaduna State in a recent media chat, therefore, falls flat on its face given these figures," Masha stated, pointing to "incessant cases of banditry and kidnapping" in Local Government Areas like Kajuru, Kauru, Kaura, Birnin Gwari, Chikun, and others.

Allegations of Resource Mismanagement

Masha also accused the Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security of being "nothing but a conduit for siphoning state resources" due to its alleged failure to acquire and deploy technology for intelligence gathering and surveillance in areas where terrorists operate.

He claimed that while victims of attacks "wallow in sorrow, tears and blood," the government is "pampering the criminals with public funds in the name of negotiations."

The PDP's strong criticism comes as political parties begin positioning themselves for the 2027 general elections, with the opposition intensifying its scrutiny of the ruling party's performance.
