Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has revealed the reasons behind the departure of four key players from the national team camp ahead of Nigeria's international friendly match against Russia.

Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Felix Agu, and Ahmed Musa were initially included in the 21-man squad for the friendly fixture but have since left the camp before the team's journey to Russia.

In a conversation with United Kingdom-based Nigerian journalist Austin Okon Akpan, Chelle provided specific explanations for each player's early departure.

Individual Circumstances Behind Departures

"You saw Ahmed Musa left the camp [for his wedding]. [Wilfried] Ndidi left because he had a little injury at the end of the game [against Jamaica]," Chelle explained.

The coach further revealed that "[Kelechi] Iheanacho, too has a big problem in his family so he needs to leave the Super Eagles camp."

For Felix Agu, the issue was administrative rather than personal or medical. "Felix Agu left because of his visa. He can't go to Russia. So we have to work on other players who can substitute them," Chelle added.

Despite these setbacks, the Super Eagles camp is reportedly bubbling with activity as the remaining players prepare for the international friendly against Russia, scheduled to take place at the Luzhniki Stadium this Friday.

The match represents an important test for Nigeria as they continue their preparations under Coach Chelle's guidance, with several players now having the opportunity to step up in the absence of these established names.
