Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has urged Manchester United to consider replacing current manager Ruben Amorim with former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, citing the German's superior experience as a crucial factor.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Keown expressed concerns about Amorim's suitability for the Manchester United job following a disappointing 2024/25 campaign that saw the club finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table and lose the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.

"I am still concerned that maybe he [Ruben Amorim] isn't the right manager for Manchester United," Keown said. "Just look at the number of games they have lost [under Amorim last season]."

The former England international believes Klopp, who is currently without a club after departing Liverpool before the start of the 2024/25 season, would be an ideal replacement.

"It is going to be a very interesting start to next season for Manchester United but they could do a lot worse than go and get Jurgen Klopp to manage their football club," Keown continued. "I believe Klopp could do an incredible job at Manchester United and they need somebody with more experience than the current manager [Amorim]."

Keown further emphasized Klopp's proven track record in rebuilding teams, adding: "Why not [get Klopp]. He's done a rebuilding job before [at Liverpool]."

The suggestion comes at a critical time for Manchester United, who endured a trophyless season under Amorim's leadership, with the Portuguese manager failing to secure European football for the upcoming campaign.

Klopp, who led Liverpool to Premier League and Champions League glory during his tenure at Anfield, has been taking a break from management since his departure from the Merseyside club.
