Russian midfielder Matvey Kislyak has declared that his team harbors no fear of the Super Eagles ahead of their upcoming international friendly match, particularly noting the absence of Nigeria's star striker Victor Osimhen.

The friendly encounter between Russia and Nigeria is scheduled to take place on June 6 in Moscow, with both teams using the match as preparation for future competitions.

"There are many famous footballers playing for the Nigerian national team. Some won't come, yes. Osimhen won't come," Kislyak told Championat. "I think it will be a good match. Nigeria doesn't cause fear. It is interesting to test one's strength."

Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle has excluded several key players from the squad traveling to Russia, including Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Ademola Lookman. This revised squad selection comes after Chelle initially released a different lineup for the friendly.

Super Eagles Enter Match with Momentum

The Nigerian team heads into the Russia friendly with positive momentum after recently winning the 2025 Unity Cup in London. Chelle's side defeated Jamaica in the final to claim the friendly tournament trophy over the weekend.

Despite the absence of several star players, the Super Eagles' recent success has drawn attention, with even Russia's goalkeeper Agkatsev acknowledging Nigeria as a "strong team" in separate comments ahead of the match.

The friendly will provide an opportunity for both teams to test their depth and tactical approaches, with Nigeria potentially giving playing time to less experienced squad members following their recent tournament victory.

Nigerian Football Federation President Gusau has already praised the Super Eagles for their Unity Cup triumph, setting positive expectations for the team's performance in Moscow despite the absence of key players.
