Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has urged Chelsea to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo following the Blues' agreement to bring Liam Delap to Stamford Bridge from Ipswich Town.
Collymore believes the 25-year-old Cameroonian international would provide valuable support for Delap in manager Enzo Maresca's squad, while also offering versatility across the forward line.
"Chelsea would be another good move. I really rate [Bryan] Mbeumo, so for me he is better than Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke," Collymore told Caught Offside. "He can also provide backup to Delap in the striker position."
Chelsea recently reached an agreement to sign 22-year-old Delap from Ipswich Town, strengthening their attacking options ahead of the new season. The addition of Mbeumo could further bolster their forward line if the club follows Collymore's recommendation.
Mbeumo's current contract with Brentford expires in 2026, putting the Bees in a position where they may need to consider selling this summer to avoid losing him for a reduced fee later. The forward has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.
Since joining Brentford in 2019, Mbeumo has established himself as a key player for the London club, demonstrating his ability to score and create goals in the Premier League. His versatility allows him to play across the front line, which could make him an attractive option for Chelsea as they look to compete on multiple fronts next season.
Collymore's assessment that Mbeumo outperforms current Chelsea attackers Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke suggests he believes the Cameroonian would be more than just a backup option if he were to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
