Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has insisted that captain Bruno Fernandes wants to remain at Old Trafford despite receiving a lucrative offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.
Speaking after Manchester United's 3-1 victory over Hong Kong in a post-season friendly on Friday, Amorim revealed that the Portuguese midfielder is turning down multiple opportunities to leave the club.
"My feeling is that Bruno wants to stay. He is saying no to a lot of things," Amorim stated. "The club can find other ways to make money. I feel he wants to stay for sure with Man United, you never know."
The 30-year-old Fernandes has been the subject of intense speculation regarding a potential transfer to Al Hilal, with reports suggesting the Saudi club is prepared to pay a staggering £100 million for his services.
Fernandes, who joined Manchester United in January 2020, has established himself as a key figure at the club, taking on the captaincy and consistently delivering standout performances despite the team's fluctuating form in recent seasons.
Amorim's comments will likely reassure United supporters who have grown concerned about losing their influential captain, especially with Saudi Pro League clubs increasingly targeting high-profile Premier League players with substantial financial packages.
The manager's remarks also suggest that Manchester United's hierarchy may need to explore alternative revenue streams rather than selling key players like Fernandes to balance their books.
As Manchester United prepare for the upcoming season under Amorim's leadership, retaining Fernandes would represent a significant boost to their ambitions of returning to the Premier League's elite.
