Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has advised manager Mikel Arteta to sign Julian Alvarez as the club's new striker, expressing his admiration for the forward during a recent podcast appearance.

Speaking on Sky Bet's Stick to Football podcast, Henry criticized Arteta for not acquiring a dedicated centre-forward during the last transfer window despite having ample time to do so.

"When you look at the injuries and you look at the players that came, he brought players," Henry said. "He got [Raheem] Sterling when everyone wanted a nine. He had time to get a nine."

The former France international highlighted that Arsenal's need for a striker has been a recurring topic among fans and pundits, though the conversation tends to quiet down after significant victories.

"I'm not the coach, I don't know how the discussion went... everyone has been screaming for a nine – apart from when we win, by the way. When we beat Real Madrid, we didn't need a nine," he added.

Why Alvarez Stands Out

Henry specifically named Julian Alvarez as his preferred striker option for Arsenal, praising the player's versatility, technical ability, and remarkable stamina.

"One of my favourite nines out there at the minute is Julian Alvarez," Henry stated. "We've been talking about it, putting pressure, playing alone, low, whatever you want to do. Did you see the free-kick he scored the other day? He can hold the ball alone."

The Arsenal legend was particularly impressed by Alvarez's endurance and commitment, noting his participation in multiple tournaments without complaints of fatigue.

"He played at the Olympic Games, he played in the Copa America. I don't hear him saying, 'I'm tired' or not tired. Hopefully nothing bad is going to happen to him. He's played everything and the way he plays, I just like him," Henry concluded.

Arsenal's striker situation has been a point of discussion throughout the season, with fans divided on whether the current options are sufficient for the club's ambitions in domestic and European competitions.
