Armed bandits have attacked Yar Danya community in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State, leaving one person dead and a woman injured during a Tuesday night raid.

According to security analyst Bakatsine, who shared information about the incident on Wednesday via X (formerly Twitter), the attackers also looted shops and houses while rustling livestock from the community.

"Last night, bandits invaded Yar Danya community in Kurfi LGA, Katsina State. They killed one person, injured one woman, looted houses and shops and also rustled livestock during the invasion," Bakatsine wrote.

As of the time of this report, the Katsina State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the attack.

This incident adds to a growing pattern of bandit attacks in Katsina State and the wider northwestern region of Nigeria, where armed groups have continued to terrorize rural communities through killings, kidnappings, and cattle rustling.

The Yar Danya attack comes amid ongoing security challenges in the state, with several communities in Katsina experiencing similar raids in recent months despite government efforts to address the insecurity situation.
