Manchester United legend Roy Keane has publicly criticized Nottingham Forest, labeling the club as "small-minded" following their decision to ban fellow commentator Gary Neville from their final Premier League match of the season.

Neville was prevented from commentating on Forest's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on the final day of the Premier League season after he criticized the club's owner, Evangelos Marinakis.

The controversy stemmed from an incident on May 11 during Forest's match against Leicester City. Marinakis entered the pitch to confront coach Nuno Espirito Santo, reportedly expressing displeasure about the coaching and medical staff's treatment of Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who had suffered a stomach injury during the 2-2 draw.

Neville, who was commentating on the match, criticized Marinakis' actions, which subsequently led to Forest's decision to ban him from their final game of the season.

According to the Mirror, Keane did not hold back in his assessment of the situation, describing Forest's decision as "small-minded."

The 1-0 defeat to Chelsea had significant implications for both clubs. The victory secured Champions League football for Enzo Maresca's Chelsea side next season, while Nottingham Forest finished sixth in the league despite what had been a strong start to their campaign.

This incident highlights growing tensions between media commentators and club ownership in the Premier League, with questions being raised about freedom of expression and the boundaries of criticism in football punditry.
