Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap amid competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and other top clubs.

According to ESPN, Manchester United have informed Ipswich Town they will trigger Delap's £30 million relegation release clause if the 22-year-old indicates his desire to join Ruben Amorim's side this summer.

Delap has made a significant impact in his debut Premier League season with Ipswich Town, netting 12 goals despite the club's relegation from the top flight this season.

The young striker began his professional career with Manchester City in 2020 before moving to Ipswich Town, where his performances have attracted attention from several Premier League clubs.

Besides Manchester United and Chelsea, West Ham, Aston Villa, Everton, and Arsenal have all reportedly shown interest in securing Delap's services during this summer transfer window.

However, former Aston Villa captain Gabby Agbonlahor has advised Delap against joining Manchester United this summer, suggesting the move might not be in the best interest of the promising striker's career development.

With Manchester United now positioned to activate the release clause, it remains to be seen whether Delap will choose to join the Red Devils or consider other options among the Premier League elite.
