Former Liverpool player Jamie Redknapp has advised Manchester United to sell their captain Bruno Fernandes this summer and reinvest the money to strengthen new manager Ruben Amorim's squad.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp acknowledged Fernandes' quality but suggested that selling the 30-year-old Portuguese midfielder could be beneficial if it allows for broader squad improvements.

"I think apart from Leny Yoro, purely because he hasn't been there long and he's a young player, I think every single United player will be up for sale," Redknapp stated.

"I would [sell Fernandes] right now yeah and I'm a big fan. I think he is a game-changer but I think if the right money came about and you could then invest into the squad and I think he is a good player, I think he is a top footballer. But if the right money were to come available and you can improve your squad," he added.

Fernandes has been Manchester United's standout performer this season despite the team's disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League table. The midfielder has reportedly attracted strong interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

The Portuguese international has previously indicated that he would be open to a move if the club wishes to sell him, stating that if Manchester United "don't want his services anymore and want to make money they can sell him."

With new manager Ruben Amorim reportedly planning significant changes at Old Trafford, this summer transfer window could see major restructuring of the Manchester United squad as they look to rebuild after a disappointing campaign.
