Former Manchester United defender Rafael has advised incoming manager Ruben Amorim to offload Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund and sign Nigerian international Victor Osimhen during the summer transfer window.

Rafael, who won three Premier League titles with Manchester United, expressed his preference for Osimhen over Hojlund, citing the Nigerian striker's impressive form compared to the Dane's underwhelming performances at Old Trafford.

"Osimhen, I love him, he's a very good player. I have to say I prefer him over Hojlund for sure. He's 100%," Rafael told RG.

"I'm not a fan of Hojlund, I hope he gets better. I don't know if he will stay at Manchester United or not," the Brazilian added.

Hojlund has struggled in his second season with Manchester United, scoring just four goals in the Premier League and six in the Europa League. His poor form has contributed to United's disappointing campaign.

In contrast, Osimhen has been in scintillating form during his season-long loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray, netting an impressive 25 goals in 29 appearances. The Super Eagles striker is on track to win the top scorer award in the Turkish league.

Osimhen's loan spell at Galatasaray is set to conclude at the end of the season, but reports suggest he is unlikely to return to his parent club Napoli. This situation has put several European clubs, including Manchester United, on alert regarding his availability.

With Ruben Amorim expected to take over managerial duties at Old Trafford, Rafael's recommendation could influence the club's transfer strategy as they look to rebuild and strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming season.

Manchester United fans will be eager to see if the club pursues Osimhen, whose proven goalscoring ability could provide the firepower needed to return the Red Devils to the upper echelons of English and European football.
