The International Human Rights Commission–Relief Fund Trust (IHRC-RFT), Nigeria Chapter, has raised alarm over what it describes as a worsening humanitarian and economic emergency in Nigeria, calling for immediate government intervention to address the situation.

In a statement signed by Ambassador Abdullahi Bakoji Adamu, the organization's Director, the IHRC-RFT expressed deep concern about the unbearable cost of living, stagnant wages, and increasing poverty affecting Nigerians across all social strata.

"The sharp rise in prices of goods and services without a corresponding increase in earnings has created a desperate situation for many families," Ambassador Adamu stated, emphasizing that the crisis has evolved beyond economic distress to become a matter of human dignity.

The rights group highlighted that civil servants, business owners, farmers, youths, and the unemployed are all grappling with high inflation, food insecurity, and limited access to healthcare, pushing many into hopelessness and despair.

The IHRC-RFT called on the Federal Government, National Assembly, ministers, and other key stakeholders to act swiftly by revisiting economic policies that are making life more difficult for ordinary Nigerians. The organization specifically mentioned the need to review fuel pricing, electricity tariffs, and taxation policies.

"This is a call rooted in patriotism and human compassion," the statement read. "Governments are instituted to secure the welfare and dignity of their citizens. That sacred duty must be upheld."

Ambassador Adamu urged all patriotic Nigerians to join in demanding justice and humane governance, insisting that now is the time to restore the dignity of life and protect the most vulnerable in society.

The IHRC-RFT joins a growing chorus of civil society organizations calling for urgent intervention to address Nigeria's economic challenges and prevent further social instability as citizens continue to struggle with the harsh economic realities.
