Manchester United have decided to keep faith with manager Ruben Amorim despite Wednesday's disappointing 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

According to Sky Sports, the Premier League club continues to view the 40-year-old Portuguese tactician as an integral part of their long-term project, and his position remains secure despite the setback in Bilbao.

The loss means United have missed out on an automatic Champions League qualification spot for next season, adding further pressure to what has been a challenging campaign for the Red Devils.

Following the defeat, Amorim made a surprising statement, saying he would leave United "the next day" for "no compensation" if the club's board and supporters no longer wanted him at the helm.

"I would leave the next day for no compensation if the club and fans don't want me anymore," Amorim reportedly said after the match, highlighting the pressure he feels at Old Trafford.

Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag in November when United were sitting in 13th place in the Premier League table. However, the team's fortunes have not improved significantly under his leadership, with the club now positioned 16th in the standings, just above the relegation zone.

The Europa League final defeat caps a disappointing season for Manchester United, who have now been eliminated from all three cup competitions they participated in this season.

Despite these setbacks, the club's hierarchy appears committed to giving Amorim time to implement his vision and rebuild the team, recognizing that the transformation process may require patience.

The decision comes amid criticism from former players and pundits, including Rio Ferdinand who questioned Amorim's team selection for the final, and Alan Shearer who described some of the manager's decisions as "embarrassing."

United winger Alejandro Garnacho also appeared to criticize his manager after the match, lamenting that he "played only 20 minutes" in the crucial final.

As Manchester United look ahead to next season, all eyes will be on Amorim's summer transfer activity, with reports suggesting the club needs significant reinforcements to return to challenging for major honors.
