Flutterwave Founder and CEO, Olugbenga "GB" Agboola, has been appointed as a jury member for the Payments Award category at the inaugural Money20/20 Awards, further cementing African representation in the global fintech landscape.
The newly launched global awards program aims to recognize and celebrate excellence across the fintech and financial services industries. Agboola's appointment highlights the growing global relevance of African contributions to the payments sector and underscores Flutterwave's significant position in the international payments ecosystem.
As a jury member, Agboola joins an elite group of payment industry leaders from around the world, including executives from major global players such as Mastercard, Adyen, Stripe, GCash, Checkout.com, Nium, and Global Payments Inc.
According to Money20/20 organizers, the jury comprises "global experts straight from the biggest names in the game" who possess "sharp eyes, high standards, and a serious flair for spotting brilliance." The judging process will culminate in a live awards ceremony at Money20/20 USA in Las Vegas this October.
This appointment adds to Agboola's growing list of prestigious roles. He was recently appointed to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art Advisory Board, a position that reflects his "continued commitment to supporting and celebrating African excellence across various sectors on the continent and beyond," according to Flutterwave.
Agboola currently serves as the Vice Chair of the US-Africa Business Center Board and represents Flutterwave in other esteemed organizations, including the Milken Institute's Africa Leaders Business Council.
These appointments collectively strengthen Agboola's position as a thought leader at the intersection of finance, technology, and global development, while also highlighting Nigeria's growing influence in the global fintech industry.
