Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has identified two Premier League stars he believes should be top transfer targets for his old club this summer transfer window.

Yorke has urged Manchester United to pursue Liverpool forward Darwin Núñez and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez to bolster new manager Rúben Amorim's squad following a disappointing Premier League campaign.

Speaking to GamblingIndustryNews, as reported by Metro UK, Yorke expressed his admiration for Núñez, suggesting the Uruguayan striker would thrive at Old Trafford.

"I'm a big fan of his [Núñez]. I think that I could understand why Liverpool would want to change him. He is still at a good age. He has now been in England for the last three years or so. He understands English culture," Yorke stated.

The former Red Devils star believes a change of scenery could benefit Núñez, adding: "What he is expecting, I think, is a new beginning. If I were looking at him from the outside, that is somebody I would take on to bring aggression. You would be the top man or one of the top men at Man United."

Yorke confidently predicted: "If he wants to go there, you give me something. And I think he will score more goals at Man United than at Liverpool."

The 1999 treble winner didn't stop at recommending a striker, as he also suggested World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez would be an upgrade on current Manchester United first-choice André Onana.

"He [Emiliano Martínez] wouldn't just be bringing experience, but he is a far better goalkeeper than André Onana, just going by the numbers," Yorke asserted.

Manchester United are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer as they look to provide Amorim with the tools needed to return the club to Premier League contention after a poor season.
