Former England defender Jamie Carragher has suggested that Alejandro Garnacho could be on his way out of Manchester United following reports of Matheus Cunha's imminent arrival at Old Trafford.

Reports on Monday indicated that Brazilian striker Cunha has agreed to join Manchester United from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the Red Devils reportedly ready to trigger his £62.5 million release clause.

Speaking on Sky Sports about how Cunha's potential transfer might impact Garnacho's future at United, Carragher expressed concerns for the Argentine winger's position in the squad.

"It is certainly not good news because I think Amad Diallo might play one of those other positions [in the attack] alongside Cunha and maybe Bruno Fernandes at different times," Carragher said.

"I think if a decent offer comes in for Garnacho, Manchester United will probably take it," the former Liverpool defender added.

Manchester United are reportedly looking to strengthen new manager Ruben Amorim's squad this summer after what has been described as a poor Premier League debut campaign for the Portuguese tactician.

Cunha, who has impressed during his time at Wolves, is among several high-profile players linked with a move to Old Trafford as the club seeks to improve their attacking options ahead of the new season.

The potential arrival of the Brazilian international could create a selection dilemma for Amorim, potentially pushing Garnacho further down the pecking order despite the Argentine showing flashes of brilliance during his time at the club.

Manchester United are also reportedly boosted by the return of several injured players ahead of their upcoming Europa League final.
