Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has challenged three of his teammates to elevate their performances in the upcoming 2025/26 season, expressing hope that they will outshine him for individual accolades.
The Portuguese midfielder, who joined the Red Devils from Sporting in 2020, identified Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Amad Diallo as players who need to take their game to the next level.
Speaking to CBS Sports, Fernandes stated: "I hope next year, I am not involved in the names [for the award next season]. Because that would mean that Amad has stepped up, Garnacho has stepped up, Rasmus has stepped up."
The 30-year-old captain elaborated that he wants to see the trio improve their all-round game, emphasizing the need for them to contribute more goals and assists while also showing commitment in defensive duties.
According to Fernandes, Amad, Garnacho, and Hojlund need to "start scoring, providing assists, tackling and running backwards" to capture the attention of fans and pundits alike.
This call for improvement comes as Manchester United prepare for what could be a pivotal season under their current management, with the club looking to return to the upper echelons of English and European football.
Fernandes' comments highlight his leadership qualities and desire to see collective improvement at the club, rather than focusing solely on individual recognition.
