Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has claimed that Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka might have been a contender for the 2025 Ballon d'Or award if not for his injury setback this season.

The Nigerian international, who previously played alongside Saka at Arsenal before moving to Everton in 2019, made these remarks during a recent appearance on Inside Scoop.

"I think if he didn't get injured, he'd potentially be a Ballon d'Or nominee. I think the sky is the limit, man. He's too cold," Iwobi stated, highlighting his admiration for the England international's abilities.

Iwobi attributed Saka's success to his character and approach to the game, noting that "one of the things that has helped his former teammate is that he listens, is humble, and always ready to learn."

Saka, who was promoted to Arsenal's senior team in 2018, has spent his entire first-team career with the Gunners. His achievements include winning an FA Cup and two FA Community Shields. He was also named Arsenal's Player of the Season following both the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns.

Despite injury concerns, Saka has been one of Arsenal's standout attackers this season. Football analysts suggest that if Arsenal had won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League this season, the winger's chances of winning the prestigious Ballon d'Or would have significantly increased.

Iwobi, who now plies his trade at Fulham after spells at Arsenal and Everton, continues to follow his former club closely while establishing himself as a key player for both his current club and the Nigerian national team.
