Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, has predicted that Chelsea and Nottingham Forest will fail to secure Champions League qualification for next season despite their strong performances in the current campaign.
With the Premier League season approaching its conclusion, five teams are currently locked in an intense battle for the remaining three Champions League spots. Liverpool and Arsenal have already confirmed their places ahead of the final matchday next Sunday.
Newcastle United, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest are all vying for the remaining positions in Europe's elite competition.
Speaking on his Sky Sports podcast following Sunday's Premier League fixtures, Neville shared his prediction on which teams would secure the coveted Champions League places.
"At the moment I think Man City will just get in there, I think Newcastle will get in there and I think Aston Villa might just sneak in," Neville stated.
The pundit added: "I think Forest might just hamper Chelsea next weekend and Aston Villa should win at Old Trafford, everyone is beating Man United at the minute."
Neville's prediction suggests that Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa will join Liverpool and Arsenal in representing England in next season's Champions League, leaving Chelsea and Nottingham Forest to settle for Europa League football.
The final day of the Premier League season promises to be dramatic as these teams make their last push for Champions League qualification, with millions in revenue and prestige at stake.
