The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed details of his recent meeting with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, stating that he told his estranged political godson that he lacks the capacity to make peace.

Speaking at a media briefing on Monday, Wike confirmed that the suspended governor had visited him to plead for reconciliation, accompanied by two governors from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

"I told him (Fubara) I don't think you have the capacity to really make this peace. It's not easy; if you're making peace, your people are demonstrating every day," Wike stated.

The FCT Minister further emphasized the contradiction in Fubara's peace overtures, saying, "If you are making peace, your people are busy on television insulting people."

This revelation comes amid the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State that has seen a deteriorating relationship between Wike and Fubara, who was once considered his political protégé.

In what appears to be a response to Wike's comments, Governor Fubara had on Sunday cautioned his supporters to avoid actions that could hinder the peace process he is pursuing.

The political tension in Rivers State has continued to escalate in recent months, with reports of clashes between supporters of both political figures during town hall meetings in Port Harcourt.

Political observers note that the conflict between Wike and Fubara represents one of the most significant political crises in Rivers State in recent years, with potential implications for governance and development in the oil-rich state.

As the situation unfolds, stakeholders continue to call for a genuine resolution to the crisis to prevent further political instability in the state.
