Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged his former club to offload up to 10 players during the upcoming summer transfer window as they look to turn around their disappointing season.
Speaking on The Overlap podcast, Neville emphasized the need for a major squad overhaul, saying: "You are talking about eight to 10 players have to go. There is three or four players that will leave through being out of contract, and he [Amorim] needs to get [another] five or six out, and they are going to have to pay to get them out."
The former United defender also highlighted the club's poor track record with signings in recent years, adding: "I genuinely believe it's been a graveyard for every player that's joined that club in the last 10 years apart from Bruno."
Manchester United have endured a dismal Premier League campaign under Ruben Amorim's management, currently sitting in 16th position with just two games remaining. The Red Devils have suffered 17 league defeats this season – their highest number in almost 51 years.
Despite their league struggles, United still have an opportunity to salvage something from their season as they prepare to face Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League final later this month.
Neville's comments come at a critical time for the club as they look set for their worst-ever Premier League finish, highlighting the urgent need for significant changes to the playing squad during the upcoming transfer window.
