Manchester United legend Roy Keane has launched a scathing attack on three of the club's young players following their 1-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea on Friday at Stamford Bridge.
Keane singled out Rasmus Hojlund, Kobbie Mainoo, and Alejandro Garnacho for criticism, suggesting Manchester United should not fight to retain them during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Marc Cucurella's second-half goal secured victory for Chelsea against Ruben Amorim's side, leaving Manchester United languishing in 16th position on the Premier League table with just 39 points from 37 games.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Keane was particularly critical of Danish striker Hojlund, stating: "They have got no striker. Hojlund looked like a young kid for Chelsea, he looked like he had come straight out of the academy."
When asked if Manchester United should fight to keep Hojlund, Mainoo and Garnacho, Keane responded firmly: "No. No I wouldn't. I would not be hanging my hat on them three to get United anywhere."
The former United captain continued his assessment of the young trio, saying: "Mainoo came on tonight and I watched him closely, he is strolling around, some of his passing was sloppy. Garnacho is immature, he plays in little moments but he doesn't do enough. You want players to turn up week in and week out and he doesn't do that."
Manchester United's next fixture is the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, offering Amorim's side a chance to salvage something from what has been a disappointing season.
