Former Rangers star Ally McCoist has criticized Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson and Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund for their underwhelming performances this season, expressing disappointment over their lack of progress.
Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist shared his concerns about both forwards, stating: "I looked at Jackson and Hojlund about a season ago and I'm thinking to myself they have both got potential, they are heading in the right direction."
"I am a little bit disappointed in the two of them, they have not progressed in terms of finishing as much as I would have hoped and wanted to see," the pundit added.
Jackson, who joined Chelsea from Spanish LaLiga club Villarreal in 2023, has managed to score 29 goals and provide 11 assists in 77 appearances for the Blues. While these numbers aren't poor, McCoist believes the Senegalese international should have shown more improvement in his finishing abilities.
Hojlund's situation at Manchester United appears even more concerning. The Danish striker has endured a difficult campaign, netting just 10 goals and providing four assists in 49 matches across all competitions for the Red Devils this season.
Both forwards arrived at their respective clubs with significant expectations, but according to McCoist, neither has developed their finishing skills to the level anticipated when they first joined the Premier League.
The criticism comes at a crucial time in the Premier League season, with clubs finalizing their positions in the table and potentially making decisions about their squad composition for the upcoming campaign.
