Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has emphasized the importance of ending the season on a positive note following their disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Everton in the Premier League.
The loss at Craven Cottage has dealt a significant blow to Fulham's hopes of securing European football next season, but the Nigerian international insists the team must remain focused for their final two matches.
Raul Jimenez had given Marco Silva's side an early advantage, finding the net in the 20th minute. However, Everton equalized just before halftime and added two more goals after the break to complete the comeback and secure all three points.
Speaking to the club's official website after the match, Iwobi expressed his frustration with the result but maintained that there is still work to be done this season.
"Of course it was disappointing," Iwobi said. "We felt we controlled the first-half and then when they scored the equaliser, it probably boosted them for the second-half."
The former Arsenal player added: "The season's not done – let's see what we can do."
Despite the setback, Fulham still have an opportunity to finish the season strongly with two matches remaining. A strong finish could potentially keep their European qualification hopes alive, depending on results elsewhere.
The Cottagers have enjoyed a relatively successful campaign under Marco Silva, with Iwobi playing a key role in their midfield throughout the season. Their remaining fixtures will be crucial as they look to end on a high note and possibly secure European football for next season.
