Former Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson has named Chelsea's Marc Cucurella as the best left-back in the Premier League, advising Liverpool against pursuing Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez.

Johnson's comments come as Liverpool are reportedly searching for a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, with Bournemouth's Kerkez emerging as a primary target for Arne Slot's side following an impressive season.

"If I were Liverpool, I would be doing everything I could to sign Marc Cucurella, he would be my first choice Robertson replacement," Johnson told WDW Bingo.

"I'm not sure if he is available, but he is by far the best left-back in the Premier League, and everyone is available for the right price. He is a livewire," the former England international added.

Cucurella, who joined Chelsea from Brighton in the summer of 2022, has been in exceptional form this season, making 45 appearances across all competitions for the Blues while contributing six goals and four assists.

The Spain international remains under contract with Chelsea until 2028, potentially making any transfer approach from Liverpool challenging.

Liverpool, who have already secured the Premier League title this season, are expected to be active in the summer transfer market as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
