Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed that his team's lack of aggression in the final third was responsible for their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in Friday night's Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
The Red Devils suffered their 18th defeat of the season after Marc Cucurella headed in the only goal of the match from a Reece James cross, further compounding United's disappointing league campaign.
"I think we started great, well but in the final third we needed to be a bit more aggressive," Amorim told BBC Match of the Day after the game.
"We were there, we faced the game in the right way. It was a bit of bad luck today. Sometimes we want to press and to score a goal but we lost a little bit of concentration," he added.
Despite acknowledging that his team competed well, Amorim expressed disappointment with the result: "It was different but you never like when you lose the game. We were competitive, that was clear."
The defeat leaves Manchester United languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table, highlighting their struggles this season.
Manchester United will now turn their attention to Wednesday's Europa League final against Tottenham, where they will hope to salvage something from their disappointing season by securing European silverware.
