Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has strongly criticized Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher for suggesting that midfielder Declan Rice might leave Arsenal in 2026.

Speaking on his football podcast, Seaman expressed disbelief at Carragher's comments, stating that the former Liverpool defender was thinking "far too much into the future."

"Wow. So we've not even finished this season and he's talking about [Arsenal] not doing anything next season... and then someone that might leave the season after!" Seaman said via Metro.

The former England international added sarcastically, "Let's get Uri Geller on and ask him! No, I can't believe that he [Carragher] has said something like that because I'm excited about next season with Arsenal."

Seaman believes that under Mikel Arteta's guidance, Arsenal is continuously improving on the pitch, which he feels is reason enough for Rice to remain at the Emirates Stadium.

Rice has been instrumental for the Gunners this season, particularly during their UEFA Champions League campaign. The midfielder notably scored two free kicks in the quarterfinal first leg against Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium, helping Arsenal secure an impressive 5-1 aggregate victory over the 15-time European champions.

The English midfielder joined Arsenal in a high-profile move and has quickly established himself as a key figure in Arteta's squad, with his performances drawing praise from fans and pundits alike.

Seaman's defense of Rice and the club highlights the growing optimism surrounding Arsenal's project, despite Carragher's speculative comments about the midfielder's future.
