Armed bandits have launched a deadly attack on Madira community in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing several residents and abducting many others during a night raid on Monday.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, who revealed the incident via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, the assailants stormed the village in large numbers under the cover of darkness.
"Last night, bandits invaded Madira community in Kaura Namoda LGA, Zamfara State. They killed several people, injured many, abducted many people and set houses and security posts ablaze," Bakatsine stated in his post.
The attackers reportedly burned down homes and security outposts during the violent raid, further destabilizing the community that has been struggling with insecurity.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities in Zamfara State have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the attack, leaving many questions unanswered about the exact casualty figures and the identity of those abducted.
This latest incident adds to the growing list of violent attacks in Zamfara State, which has been grappling with banditry and kidnapping for ransom in recent years, despite government efforts to curb insecurity in the region.
